meet our yoga sponsor: Bhakti Chai

May 11, 2015

We can hardly contain our excitement- IT’S THE WEEK OF BLEND!!! All we have to do is get through these final few days before enjoying an incredible weekend filled with fun, friendship and countless wonderful memories! We hope that you have enjoyed reading over our blog posts and meeting some of the incredible companies that are making Blend 2015 possible.

One very special (new) addition to this year’s retreat is our first ever yoga sponsor! When we set out to find the perfect brand to sponsor a yoga class, there was one very specific name that came to mind almost immediately: Bhakti Chai! Lucky for us (and YOU!), Bhakti Chai was thrilled to be a part of our very special retreat and is planning to bring lots of fun and delicious flavor to Blend this weekend.

Get to know this spicy, special brand (and be sure to enter the generous giveaway below!):

1. Who/what is behind the brand Bhakti Chai? Can you tell us a little bit about how and why you got started?

Our Founder, Brook Eddy traveled to India in 2002 to study a social justice movement based on Bhakti (or devotion through social action). Along the way, she fell in love with the aroma and flavor of the spicy masala chai ubiquitous to northern India. Upon her return to the U.S., Brook was unable to find the spicy fresh chai that she had enjoyed during her travels so she began brewing her own at home. Standing over the pot of steaming chai on her stove and inhaling the layers of fragrant spices, Brook was suddenly swept back into the chaos, colors and vibrancy of India. When her homemade brew gained attention (and even addiction) from friends and neighbors, she decided to take the principles of Bhakti that she had learned in India and build a company on this ideal. This single mother of twins took a deep breath, quit her full time job, and dove into the process of bringing consumers a microbrewed chai that was steeped in social and environmental change.

2. What is the mission statement and goal behind the brand Bhakti Chai?

Our mission is to disrupt the established chai and tea market to become the premium fresh chai in the world, while promoting the Bhakti brand and message of social action and sustainability.

3. Which Bhakti Chai products are you excited to share with the attendees of the Blend Retreat?

We are thrilled to be sharing our iced ready-to-drinks with Blend attendees: a mix of our spicy, fresh-ginger filled concentrate with either non-GMO soy or almond milk.

4. How does Bhakti Chai plan to be involved in the Blend Retreat?

Bhakti will be welcoming bloggers to Blend with a refreshing bottle of Bhakti Chai on Friday afternoon. Then, Sunday morning, we will be back to help bring the weekend to a close with a magical yoga class lead by Shannon Paige (yoga mats donated by Gaiam!) and a final sip of Bhakti before heading home.
We also look forward to staying connected with Blend attendees after the retreat! For anyone who is a new fan of our brew, we’d love to collaborate on a product review and giveaway on blogs and keep the relationship going!

I am a HUGE fan of the brand, both the products and all that Brooke has accomplished and stands for as a powerful woman leader in business. So grateful for all they are giving away and sponsoring at BLEND.
